PhotonX25 Issues.

I recently purchased the Alesis Photon X25 MIDI Keyboard Controller from Musicians Friend's ultra-slow service and had some difficulty getting it to send MIDI data on Windows XP.

Alesis Photon X25 Top View

The Alesis X25 page only had a driver download and a method of re-flashing the Photon, but neither of these two solutions let MIDI data get through to Windows XP.

Logitech Web-Camera
It turns out, that my Logitech web-camera has a driver that conflicts with the Photon X25. Alesis offered me a registry fix and instructions on how to remove the conflicting driver via email, but it would have been nice if it was actually posted on their website. If you have a Logitech web-cam that might be conflicting with your keyboard, I've provided a link to the files below:

Download the Logitech Fix files here.

The only sucky part about doing the registry fix and driver uninstall is that your web-cam will NOT work once you've got your Photon working! I'll be searching for a solution to balance out both worlds, but until then, you're going to need to play favorites. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know in the comment section! Thanks!

China Trains.

I knew there were a lot of people in China (1,321,851,888+ people and going up fast), but I didn't really understand what it would be like to live with that many people until I saw this video of Chinese people getting put on a train!

Those poor people getting packed in there!

Door Holding.

When you're walking out the door and there are people behind you, just how long should you hold that door open? I've always found this situation to be quite humorous, especially since I find myself awkwardly holding doors open for a little too long.

Sometimes I wonder: if a group of people got together and established some sort of "social rule" about how much time should be spent holding doors open, would people cumulatively be more efficient in getting to the places they need to be? What are all of the conditions that determine how long a door should be held for? A well made list of all these rules might be pretty funny as well as informative.

Perhaps some of my research on the subject below will inspire a legitimate test someday. Perhaps placing a sign in your building above a main entrance reading, "Maximum door hold time: X seconds", or something of the sort.

A funny video about door holding:

The Digg comment section for the video above (with a few interesting views)

Do you hold open doors for people? (pretty good debate on the subject)

Why do some people hold the door open for you when you're so far way? (This guy made the mistake of asking all the nice people who hold doors open for other people why they do it)

Holding the door open for others? (Another Yahoo Answers fun-filled discussion)

Gender Focused Discussion

To hold open, or not hold open? That is the question. (a gender based study that touches on the subject)

Hold the door! (MetaFilter always pulls through with good discussion)

Holding the door for Pregnant women. (apparently a globally understood social rule)

Is holding a door open sexist, should i let it close in her face? (Is it really sexist?)

Preventing Door Holding

Holding Metro Doors (There's rules against holding the doors here! What if someone is running late? What then? New rule?)

Feel Free to post links to more interesting discussion in the comment section!
Let's figure out all these complex social rules once and for all! haha

Shark Surfing.

This dude is my hero. He jumps out in shark infested waters with just a fishing pole and surfboard in hopes to get towed along some waves by a shark. Sure enough, it worked.
