Yikes, it's been a little while since I've posted on this thing!
I've been spending a lot of time focusing on my violin (shifting positions, specifically), music theory, and PHP programming lately. I found this cool little open source project called GNU Solfege and it's been really great keeping me sharp with my music theory skills while out of the classroom during winter break.
GNU Solfege helps you with:
- Recognizing melodic and harmonic intervals
- Comparing interval sizes
- Singing the intervals the computer asks for
- Identifying chords
- Scales
- Dictation
- and Remembering complicated rhythmic patterns
If you take music seriously and want to work on all the above, I suggest tinkering with this program an hour or so each day. You can go download it here for free.
Can't wait to start my final semester of college and get back to playing shows with the band!
